"When we talk about Madeleine in Valais, we are not talking about pastries, but about the wine cellar founded in 1991 by André Fontannaz. After obtaining a business diploma, a CFC in winemaking and a federal master's degree, André decided to stop making pastries to taste the world of wine. Still at the oven and the mill, he became president of the Vétroz winemakers as well as the Vitival association.

In homage to the patron saint of the village of Vétroz, André decided to name his cellar: La Madeleine. To find an appropriate visual identity, he did not need to call on professionals. Indeed, when you have a sister who masters the remarkable art of glassmaking, it is a godsend! Thus, Isabelle Fontannaz created the stained glass window of Sainte Madeleine that can be found today on the labels of the bottles of the family cellar.

For André, Madeleine has an even stronger meaning. His mother bears this name and one of his daughters was born on July 22nd… the day of Saint Madeleine. Besides, let's talk about André's daughters, let's talk about Chloé and Camille, who added the cherry on the cake by joining the family estate since 2018. While Chloé follows her father's recipe and becomes an oenologist, Camille uses other ingredients. After studying languages and tourism, she returns to the cellar with the marketing-event apron to bring new skills.

Ranked among the 150 best Swiss winegrowers by Gault & Millau in 2023 and remarkably rated by the famous American taster Robert Parker, the La Madeleine cellar has proven today that it is among the cream of the crop."
